Quick bite of the Buta Korokke

A new appetizer option at Yabu.

They're balls made with pork belly, rice, Japanese mayo, and honey soy sauce, coated with panko, over a teriyaki-eel concoction.



The coating is light and crisp. The pork rice filling is savory and satisfying. The sauce is rich, with a good balance of sweet and salty tastes.

Quick bite of the Buta Kakuni Don

A new rice dish from Yabu!

Braised pork belly cubes, flavored with honey soy sauce and Japanese mayonnaise, placed on top of steaming Japanese rice along with vegetables and a soft-boiled egg.


The meat is tender, juicy, and well marinated. The combination of the honey soy sauce and the mayonnaise gives the dish a punctuated flavor. The egg and veggies complement the savory tastes beautifully.

First sip of the Tahitian Vanilla Macchiato

It's espresso mixed with milk that has been [supposedly] infused with floral Tahitian vanilla syrup, then flavored with vanilla bean sauce, topped with vanilla bean pod sprinkles.



It's quite good. The vanilla flavor has the right richness and intensity. Nothing floral about it though. The drink is not too sweet and has enough coffee depth in the background. 

Not bad.

First bite at the Chicken Pepper Donburi

A new donburi variant by Tokyo Tokyo

Fried chicken pieces smothered with a thick, sweet, black pepper sauce, and topped with onion rings and Japanese mayonnaise.



The chicken was crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside. The pepper taste of the sauce was authentic (it had cracked pepper corns). The onion rings were fried perfectly, not too oily. Sarap!

The cake is moist and bursting with fresh mango flavor. The crushed nuts and chewy meringue base add some needed texture. Delicious and not too sweet, this cake is a nice dessert option. Perfect with coffee!
