First bite at Whitehouse Burger Café

Place: Cramped and ventilation is not good. Decorations are haphazardly placed, making the restaurant appear that it is trying hard to be cool and vintage. Also, the music is played TOO loud.

Food: Ordinary, overpriced.

First on our table is the Sizzling Sisig (Php 125): minced pork ears and liver, served with egg and garlic fried rice. The dish is bland and boring. The only thing we can sense is the liver. But the pork ears? No flavor, and a little tough. The garlic rice tastes OK.

Next, an order of the Good Morning Burger (Php 145) with some Salted French Fries and a mug of Chocolate Smores Milkshake (additional Php 75 for the fries and milkshake).

The Good Morning Burger has a 4-ounce beef patty, lettuce, onion, tomato, cheddar cheese, and a sunny-side-up egg. We find the burger too small for its price. To be fair, the patty is meaty and flavorful; it tastes like the Quarter Pounder of McDonalds. The egg though is overcooked. Overall, the burger doesn't taste bad. However, it's not something worth coming back to the restaurant for.

The milkshake has too much ice, making its flavor diluted and disappointing. And speaking of disappointing, what about those fries! They are soggy, oily, and don't taste fresh. We suspect that they're fried with oil that's been overused.

Price: Considering food quality and taste, food here is a little overpriced.

Service: It needs improvement. At times, the waiters are clueless. And they need to wear the proper attire! The one who served our sisig is wearing a sando! And the guy who served our fries is so sweaty, droplets of his sweat are falling on our table!

Whitehouse Burger Café is along Pambuli St., San Roque, Marikina City.
