Vanilla Cupcake Bakery

So we were in the mall one time and started to crave something sweet.  We saw Vanilla Cupcake Bakery's big glass case full of cupcakes and said "Why not?!"  Cupcakes, then!



We ordered some of their bestsellers: Red Velvet, Valrhona Chocolate, Blueberry Cheesecake, and the signature Vanilla Pink.


The Red Velvet Cupcake (Php 85) was O-K.  The cupcake was moist, was flavorful enough.  The frosting though was a little grainy and was lacking in cheesy taste.


The Valrhona Chocolate Cupcake (Php 85) is a dark chocolate cupcake topped with a dark chocolate ganache.  Well, allegedly.  Sure, the cupcake was also moist, and it was chocolaty.  It was too sweet to be a dark chocolate cupcake.  Same goes for the frosting; it wasn't bitter sweet.  Dark colored, sure.  But dark chocolate taste?  Nope.


The Blueberry Cheesecake (Php 99) wasn't a cupcake but a cupcake-shaped, well,  blueberry cheesecake.  Now this one's yummy.  The crust was buttery and had the right thickness.  The cream cheese middle was delicious; it had a good interplay of sweet and salty.  And the blueberry compote was not too sweet nor too tart; it was just right.


Lastly, the Vanilla Pink Cupcake (Php 75).  This one's the worst.  The cupcake didn't have good integrity; it fell apart too easily, which was unfortunate for it didn't taste bad.  The frosting was a tad too sweet.  And it was grainy!  And to think this is one of the bakery's signature products...

All in all, the treats we had weren't that bad.  However, they tasted too ordinary to blow us away.


Despite the forgettable cupcakes we ate, we enjoyed our stay here.  Why?  Because the bakery was absurdly too gay!  HAHA!  Too many colors, too many cute decorations in one space!  It was so annoyingly happy and cute, it made us laugh.
