Burger Bar

Place: Solid colors. Sturdy metallic furnishings. Bright lights.  All these decors convey strength and toughness.

Food: Delicious.  We ordered The Rising Shroom, The Hangover Burger, Lemonade, and some Skinny Fries.

The Rising Shroom (Php 280, single patty): mustard-flavored beef patty made of chuck and sirloin, perfectly charred, topped with oyster mushroom tempura, sautéed mushrooms, smothered with a cream cheese-truffle sauce, nestling between fresh Kaiser buns.

Yummy!  The patty was moist and sweet; its flavor was beautifully complemented by the woodsy taste of the mushrooms and the velvety cheese sauce.  The buttered, slighlty toasted bread added another layer of deliciousness.  It's definitely a must eat.

The Hangover Burger (Php 285, single patty): onion-griddled beef patty made of brisket and hanger, also perfectly cooked, topped with chopped prosciutto, caramelized onions, arugula, cheddar cheese, sunny-side up egg, barbecue sauce, and the restaurant's own aioli, served between sesame buns.  Whew!

A savory spectrum!  Imagine, all the tastes in one burger: saltiness from the cheese and prosciutto, bitterness from the arugula, tanginess from the barbecue sauce, sweetness from the onions, and pungency from the aioli.  The patty, although not lacking in earthy, beef flavor, had enough blandness to be a good canvass for all the tastes mentioned.  It's really good.

The Lemonade (Php 60) was too sweet and needed more citrus flavor.

The Skinny Fries (Php 45) were golden, amply salted, crispy, delicious.  And yeah, who eats burgers without fries?!

Must-eats: The Shroom Burger

Price: Considering serving size, taste, and quality, food is reasonably priced.

Service: It was OK.  We were a little disappointed with one staff member who wasn't able to tell us why our second burger was named "The Hangover Burger."

Burger Bar is at Greenbelt 2, Makati City.
