It's a piece of flat unleavened bread with a sweet filling. For this one, the filling is ube (a regular piaya is has a mozcovado-sugar-based filling).
How is it? It's good! Its sweetness is just right, complementing the subtle saltiness of the bread itself. The ube flavor is pronounced. An extra layer of flavor is provided by sesame seed sprinkles.
We also like the flakiness of the bread, though it makes eating the piaya a little messy.
Perfect partner: coffee.
